How to Start Working Out: The easiest March Workout Schedule

As I talked about in my Weekly Goal Check-In, one of my main goals for this week was to start my workout routine again. Which can both be exciting and challenging, especially if you’re returning to it after a long time (like me!). However, with the right mindset and a smart approach, we’ll explore together how to begin working out again in a loving way towards your body while avoiding toxic habits! Because honestly, that is the best way to make sure you actually transform yourself (and your body) in the healthy, fit girl you want to be (or already are on the inside!).

My March Workout Routine

To start, let’s take a look at my own workout schedule for this month.

Daily add ons: walking every morning / afternoon!

Monday: Pilates Workout (Core)

Tuesday: Running Routine*

Wednesday: Active Recovery Yoga

Thursday: Upper Body + Posture Work

Friday: Pilates Workout (Legs)

Saturday: Running Routine*

Sunday: Active Recovery Yoga

* With running routine I mean the routine I have for myself when it comes to running. I am not a beginner so my running routine (how long, how many km etc.) will look a little different from someone who just started!

This is the schedule that I will be following all through march! Now as you can see my workout days consist of running, Pilates and Yoga workouts. While also adding a day to really focus on strengthening my upper body and fixing my posture.

My easy Workout Secret: The Nike Training Club App

I used to get so overwhelmed with working out because I had no idea what to do and picking out a YouTube workout to follow would take me way too long or I would get distracted and watch something else (lol!). So then I came across my holy workout grail (and it’s completely FREE). The Nike Training Club App! This app is honestly the best workout App I have ever used, mostly because it’s free but also because it has a huge collection of workouts to try.

Credit to the NTC App, NIKE.

For example on the right you can see I typed in “recovery yoga” and it showed me 39 workouts that fit that criteria. As you can see I’ve already book marked a few because I liked them. On days in my workout schedule where I will be doing “active recovery yoga” I will just pick and choose one of the 39 workouts to do! It’s super easy! They have various workouts ranging from Pilates, Yoga, Strength and even meditation sessions (looove!). These workout classes can be led by a trainer or in whiteboard format. They also have programs you can follow, which makes it even easier.

I would hiiiighly recommended to try the Nike Training App and see if you like it (I’m sure you will!).

For me it’s super important to have a set routine, but not too strict as to where I have to do the same exercises over and over again. So for me this is perfect! Each time I have a workout I just pick a class that fits my schedule. Sometimes I pick a few workouts at the beginning of the week if I feel like I don’t have the time to choose, so I’m not overwhelmed.

For Pilates workouts I also love Move With Nicole on YouTube! She has some great beginner workouts to get you started with Pilates.

How to Workout in a Loving Way: love your body!

Getting a good workout routine that is motivating and easy is so important if you want to reach your fitness goals. But what’s maybe even more important for success in your fit body journey is to workout in a super self loving way! Why? Because working out with a mindset of self-love, respect and appreciation for your body, will make it more likely for you to stick with your workout routine in the long term. Rather than looking at exercise as a punishment for not meeting certain “standards”, you’ll see it as a way to love and take care of your body, making it soo much easier to commit and stay consistent.

A few more reasons why working out in a loving way is key:

  • Loving your body means wanting the best for it. This way you’re motivated by the desire to improve your health and well-being, this motivation can be more powerful and sustainable than negative self-talk!
  • Viewing exercise as a form of self-care instead of a way to achieve a certain weight or body type will help you have a healthier relationship with working out. Instead of only focusing on aesthetic goals, you’ll begin to appreciate all the various benefits of exercise, such as increased energy, stress relief and better mood.
  • When you’re kinder to yourself and your body, you’re more likely to see better results from your workouts! You’re more likely to listen to your body’s signals, avoiding burnout or injury, and make better choices that support your overall well being like eating healthier and going outside for some fresh air!

Always love yourself!

Exercise can be a great way to relieve stress and anxiety, but if you approach it with a negative mindset, you can actually increase these feelings. By practicing self-love and working out in a loving way towards yourself and your body, you can turn exercise into a positive, healing experience that helps you reach your goals and transform you into that happy, healthy person really are! <3
